Again, here I am posting something months after it came out. This was an Illustration I did back on October last year for a Spanish magazine about sustainability called Ethic, which started operating recently. The topic I was given was climate change, and that’s what the drawing tries to capture. Unfortunately, they changed that last minute when they were finishing the issue, and when I got my copy I found out my contribution ended up being about “water and sustainability”, because they saw the snow and the raindrops and felt it fit with that too. Oh well, collaborations, y’all know how they go! Anyway, thanks guys for the opportunity!
Una vez más, aquí va algo que hice hace ya unos meses. Es una ilustración que salió en octubre del año pasado en una revista española sobre sostenibilidad llamada Ethic que empezó a operar no hace mucho. El tema que me dieron para trabajar era el cambio climático, que es sobre lo que gira la ilustración. Desafortunadamente, eso cambió en el último momenton cuando estaban cerrando el número, y cuando recibí mi copia descubrí que mi contribución iba sobre “agua y sostenibilidad”, porque vieron la nieve y las gotas de lluvia y pensaron que también encajaba. Qué le vamos a hacer, las colaboraciones son así. En cualquier caso, Ethic, gracias por la oportunidad.

Here’s another project I did quite some months ago but the rush of daily life made totally forget I hadn’t put it online. Shame on me, cause it was quite a big thing. It’s a series of 17 illustrated posters -30 x 40 inches each- for Vodafone‘s customer call centers. The posters intend to motivate and help the staff that works there on their everyday tasks, and I was hired to do the project early last year, in February, by the Madrid-based advertising agency Tapsa. This time, apart from the illustrations I also designed the layout for the headlines and the whole color scheme. And, as seventeen posters are fairly many posters, I’ll upload them in four different posts. Hopefully, daily starting today.
Aquí va otro proyecto de hace bastantes meses que las prisas de la vida diaria me habían hecho olvidar completo que aún no lo había puesto aquí. Muy mal, porque fue algo bastante grande. Es una serie de 17 carteles de 1 metro por 76 centímetros creada para motivar y formar a los empleados de los call centers de atención al cliente de Vodafone. La agencia encargada del proyecto era Tapsa, y el trabajo fue realizado a principios del año pasado, en febrero. Esta vez, además de las ilustraciones me encargué también del diseño del layout para los titulares y de la armonía de color de todas las piezas. Y, como diecisiete carteles son bastantes carteles, voy a colgarlos en cuatro posts diferentes. Si todo va bien, uno cada día empezando hoy mismo.

Three weeks ago Movistar, Spain’s largest mobile service provider, launched a new online campaign specially focused on its mobile internet services. The campaign is comprised of a series of three banners conceived by DDB Spain, the agency that hired me to develop the illustrations. You can check out the first one just clicking here, and the other two will follow in the next days. This has been the first time I have my illustrations animated by someone and, well, it’s a lot of fun.

Hace tres semanas Movistar lanzó una nueva campaña online centrada en sus servicios de internet móvil. La campaña se compone de tres banners concebidos por DDB España, la agencia que me llamó para desarrollar las ilustraciones. Podéis ver el primero haciendo click aquí, y los otros dos llegarán en los próximos días. Esta ha sido la primera vez que alguien anima mis ilustraciones y, joder, la verdad es que ha sido muy divertido.

This is something I did quite a while ago, in early Spring, and I finally found the time to pick up a camera and take some pictures of it. The album is called “La Saga/Fuga de H.B.” and it’s the last record by a rock band from my hometown, Málaga, going by the name of Aeroplano21. They asked me to do the whole thing, from the art direction to the illustrations, and proved themselves to be probably the best client I’ve ever had. Total freedom and no bullshit, quite a weird thing to come across.
Esto lo hice hace ya un tiempo, a principios de primavera, y por fin he conseguido sacar algo de tiempo para coger una cámara y hacerle unas cuantas fotos. El disco se titula “La Saga/Fuga de H.B.” y es el último álbum de un grupo de rock de mi pueblo, Málaga, que se hace llamar Aeroplano21. Me pidieron que me encargase de todo, desde la dirección de arte hasta las ilustraciones, y demostraron ser prácticamente el mejor cliente que he tenido hasta ahora. Libertad total y cero tonterías, algo con lo que desgraciadamente uno no se encuentra todos los días.

Casa, Spanish for home, is the title of my last painting, which is likely to become somewhat of a turning point in my style. I had been thinking for a while about going for volume, and now that I’ve done it I must say it’s really refreshing and it makes the process much more fun. I completed the piece through the Summer and today it’s already hanging on the walls of their brand new owners, Olga and Pablo, a couple of friends that got married in November last year. Actually, this is their late wedding present. Acrylic on wood by the way, 11.7 by 8.2 inches.
Casa es el título de mi último cuadro, que probablemente acabe convirtiéndose en una especie de punto de inflexión en mi estilo. Llevaba tiempo pensando en tirarme al volumen, y ahora que lo he hecho tengo que decir que ha sido muy refrescante y que hace el proceso mucho más divertido. El cuadro lo hice durante el verano y a día de hoy ya está colgando de la pared de sus nuevos dueños, Olga y Pablo, una pareja de amigos que se casaron en noviembre del año pasado. De hecho, este es su atrasado regalo de boda. Acrílico sobre madera por cierto, 29,7 centímetros de ancho por 21 de alto. Un A4 vamos.
